Can these courses be taken anywhere, including outside the U.S.?

Yes! These courses are 100% online and can be taken anywhere.

Does the tuition rate differ if I am an out-of-state or international student?

The tuition rate is set at $950 for all students and does not differ based on a student’s residency.

Are materials included? If yes, will they all be housed on the online site?

Yes, all course materials are included in the price and materials can be accessed through the online platform Blackboard.

What is the course environment?

  • Weekly instructor presentations to review previous material, and introduce and explain new material
  • Discussion boards for weekly assignments, along with peer and instructor support
  • Access to course materials (videos, readings, workbooks)

What are the module components?

What is the payment policy for this program?

Course enrollments are limited to 25 students per course. To reserve your seat, you have the option of paying in full by credit card, or by making a minimum payment of $500 at registration. Note that the balance must be paid two weeks prior to the start of this offering and you will receive email reminders if you have a balance due. We do not offer payment plans for this program.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes, there is 20% discount for the following people (this brings the total course fee to $760):

  • UVM Digital Marketing Alumni: Digital Marketing Fundamentals Certificate and Digital Marketing School courses
  • UVM and UVM Medical Center Affiliates (UVM students, alumni, current and retired faculty and staff and their spouses and dependents, and UVM Medical Center employees, their spouses and dependents.)
  • Members of PMI-CV, VBSR, eCommerce Professionals Association, LCRCC

Can I use VA Benefits, military tuition assistance, GI Bill, or VA Fry grant to pay for these courses?

No, these courses have not been certified for VA benefits. Only the Digital Marketing Fundamentals Professional Certificate program has been approved for VA benefits. None of the Digital Marketing 4-week courses are certified for VA benefits.

What is the refund policy for these courses?

If you need to cancel your attendance from a course that you are registered for, you must notify us via email at cdecs@uvm.edu at least three business days prior to the start date of the course to receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. If a medical condition necessitates cancellation/withdrawal (documentation provided), this will be reviewed by our Studies Committee for any type of refund.

How will I be graded?

You will be assessed on your participation in the discussion boards, completion of assignments, and comprehension of the course material. Students must successfully participate in 70% of the program in order to receive an electronic Certificate of Completion. Because these are non-credit courses, there is no transcript.

What is the weekly workload for these courses?

We estimating 4-6 hours for each course. However, people vary their level of involvement in the course. We anticipate a smaller weekly demand than the Digital Marketing Fundamentals Professional Certificate.

Is there a required weekly class time for these courses?

Since these courses are asynchronous and 100% online, you can work at your own pace.

If my organization doesn't use Hubspot, will this course be relevant to me?

Yes, our partnership with Hubspot is about skills, best practices and understanding surrounding social media marketing. This course helps cover more generic tools such as platform management, client management, and social media platforms.

When I've finished with this course, will I have a portfolio of work to share with a potential employer?

The weekly assignments can definitely be compiled into a portfolio. In addition, the Hubspot certification you will be prepared take upon completion will be a great thing to show hiring managers, bosses, and other departments.

How will this course help a small business owner establish or reshape a social media presence?

This course will give you much more than a know-how to set up your social media presence and optimize social media imagery. We start there, but then we go in deep on strategizing, planning, understanding tools, ad budget, social media advertising, and understanding success and return.

Some other courses call themselves "digital marketing." Is that basically the same thing as Social Media marketing?

Digital marketing is sort of the broad umbrella. Digital marketing is taking your brand product/services to online channels (website, mobile app, email, etc.). Under digital marketing there is social media marketing, which is its own set of channels and tactics. Social media takes into account the paid, earned, and owned side. This course covers all three sides in depth.


Advanced SEO

Are there live sessions for this course?

Yes, there are live sessions for Advanced SEO. Live session given participants the chance to have a live Q&A and discussion time with the instructor. The live sessions are on Mondays at 8pm EST. These session are not required and are recorded and posted on Blackboard.

How will this course help a small business owner establish a web presence?

Finding your niche, branding, and optimizing your pages and content (and more) can help you compete locally with bigger, national companies with larger marketing budgets. UVM’s Advanced SEO course offers powerful marketing strategies at an affordable price.

Are there any tech requirements for this?

Yes, we will be logging into and working on a live e-commerce website so you will need to be fluent in tools like Excel/Google Sheets and web browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.).


Web Analytics and Data-Driven Decision-Making

If my organization doesn’t use Google Analytics, will this course be relevant to me?

Yes, this course is helpful for anyone looking to enhance their analytics knowledge by delving deeper into basic (and some more comprehensive) data functions. The course material features Google Analytics, but the knowledge you’ll gain is applicable across multiple analytics platforms.

The eCommerce Professionals Association offers free and premium opportunities for eCommerce Professionals to network locally, and access professional development resources.
