Get ahead when it comes to experiencing college and earn college credits while still in high school. Whether it’s during the academic year or during the summer, UVM Continuing Education has many courses available to high school students and recent high school graduates, both on campus and online.
Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP)
High school graduates, through a series of approved college courses and one-on-one advising sessions with an experienced academic advisor, can demonstrate their academic readiness and gain credits that count toward a degree at UVM. Upon successfully completing courses, students can position themselves for guaranteed admission into a UVM program.
UVM Summer Academy is an academic program for high school students. Successful students leave the Academy with 3 UVM college credits. It’s the ideal way to get a head start on college.
Global Academy (Summer)
UVM Global Academy attracts students who represent the next generation of innovators from around the world who are interested in American Business, Robotics or studying English as a Second Language. This world-class summer program is for 10th, 11th, or 12th grade high school students in the beautiful, safe, small, cosmopolitan city of Burlington, Vermont that engages U.S. and international students in an inter-cultural learning experience.
Study Abroad: Dublin (Summer)
Dublin is a premier European city and capital, rich with history and culture and famous for its beautiful Georgian architecture. The city is also a modern center of education, the arts, science and industry. Dublin is safe and easy to access. Students will be guided and accompanied by UVM faculty and staff. UVM is partnering with University College Dublin to offer high school students an opportunity to study abroad in Ireland.
Study Abroad: Costa Rica (Summer)
Observe and explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest in Costa Rica at the Biological Research Station located at Estacion Pocosol. Students will experience the rich tropical “home” of the largest private reserve in Costa Rica, the Children’s Eternal Rainforest (CER). Using the CER as a teaching model, we will observe and study the diversity of species interactions found within the park with particular attention paid to the ecosystem services provided by the park all within the context of a 3 credit course.
High School Payment Options
Dual Enrollment funding is pending legislative approval. A Vermont statewide program for high school students, juniors and seniors, to obtain two college courses with tuition fully reimbursed by Next Generation Funds, a Vermont State Legislative funded program. Students are responsible for comprehensive fees. See corresponding semester fee table: Spring/Fall, Summer.
This UVM program offers eligible Vermont high school students the opportunity to enroll in courses, gain academic credits, and receive a 50% in-state tuition discount.
