Section Description

Students will explore One Health as both a concept and approach. They will identify a One Health challenge at the beginning of the course, and they will use that challenge throughout the course in completion of their assignments. Assignments are crafted so that students can hone specific skills to be used in public health and One Health practice. At the end of the course, students will feel confident about using the One Health approach in their daily practice. Topics covered include: the One Health Triad, One Health practitioners, One Health competencies, One Health communication, One Health economics, and the future of One Health. The course requires the following textbooks and both authors will be featured in the course: Dr. Sharon Deem's Introduction to One Health: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Planetary Health, 1st Edition, ISBN 1119382866; Dr. Deborah Thomson's The Art of Science Communication: Sharing Knowledge with Students, the Public, and Policymakers, ISBN 9781737199816
