Introductory study of visual experience through drawing and its transformation of the three-dimensional visual world onto a two-dimensional surface. Emphasis varies with Instructor. Credit not awarded for both ARTS 1100 and ARTS 1011.

Section Description

Focus on the fundamentals of observational drawing skill to construct naturalistic and believable composition. Students will acquire the technical and conceptual skills that are fundamentals of the drawing process, while developing their personal vision and creative goals within the field. Emphasis will be placed on drawing directly from an observed still life or object, as well as some self-portrait, and field exercises. The student will also gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of drawing materials and drawing techniques.

Section Expectation

This is a foundation level course, and as such, no prior experience with drawing is required. A willing and curious attitude towards your learning process will benefit students. Students will be given a list of supplies to purchase for this course.

Evaluation

This is an asynchronous course. Students will be graded on daily drawings, and 4 projects. Daily drawing projects 60% Project #1 10% Project #2 10% Project #3 10% Project #4 10%
