About NFS 1990 OL1

This course will examine the link between nutrition and exercise on performance and health. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the importance of nutrition and exercise on overall health and athletic performance. The course will explore a variety of exercise and nutrition-related topics including pre-exercise eating, proper hydration, recovery, weight management, supplementation, and understanding proper healthy eating. The course covers nutrition basics and current diet trends to help students and practitioners obtain the knowledge needed to advise athletes and active individuals how to optimize their health and performance. Section Expectation Emphasizing a hands on practical approach, students will learn how to assess their individual nutrition and wellness needs based on lifestyle factors and training demands, walking away with an understanding of how to meet these needs now and in the future. No prior knowledge of nutrition is required. Evaluation Grading for this course will be based on participation, attendance, projects, and exams. Exams will be in the form of multiple choice or True/False questions. Extra credit will be available.
