What is the difference between the Cannabis Science & Medicine Professional Certificate and the Professional Certificate in Cannabis Plant Biology?

The Professional Certificate in Cannabis Plant Biology is based on the same theory as Cannabis Science & Medicine, but rather than focusing on how the cannabis plant affects the human body, the focus is on how products are made (i.e. how cannabis is grown and turned into therapeutic products).

Both courses cover cannabis history, law, policy, business, and basic human pharmacology. However, Cannabis Plant Biology dives into what affects the way cannabis is grown, the chemicals it produces, harvesting, storage, shelf life of consumer products, and consumer safety.

If you are interested in take both courses, it is best to take the Cannabis Plant Biology course first.

What is the difference between the on-demand modules and the certificates?

The online, on-demand modules offer micro-learning opportunities covering Medico-Legal, Biology and Basic Science, and Clinical Practices. Each module ranges from 1-2 hours and cost $125-$200 each. These are great for someone who needs a deep dive into a specific topic, but does not need a comprehensive course.

The Cannabis Plant Biology Professional Certificate is an 8-week certificate that covers additional topics and focuses on hemp production from seed to sale. This is not a medically focused certificate, but focuses on the plant itself.

The Cannabis Science and Medicine Professional Certificate is a 7-week certificate that focuses on the impacts cannabis has on the human body and takes an in-depth look at the on-demand module topics.

Both professional certificates include instruction by one of the nation’s leading experts. They also offer a learning community among participants where they can learn from each other, whereas the stand-alone modules do not offer student interaction. Certificate students should expect to spend 8-10 hours per week and the each costs $2,250.
