WINTER SESSION COURSE: Dec 28 - Jan 15
Climate Smart Garden Design introduces students to the principles and practices of creating gardens and landscapes that are resilient to climate change while helping to mitigate its impacts. Students will examine how a changing climate affects gardens and landscapes and explore practical design strategies for conserving water, improving soil health, managing stormwater, supporting biodiversity, and selecting climate-resilient plants. The course will also address ways to reduce the environmental footprint of gardens through thoughtful material selection and construction practices that minimize embodied carbon. This introductory course welcomes students from all academic backgrounds and requires no prior experience in gardening or landscape design.
