Section Description

This 1-credit, once-a-week course explores the intersection of art-making and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the role of materials, process, and ecological responsibility. Using foundational art supplies—such as sketchbooks, mod podge, air-dry clay, and silicone mold-making kits—students will experiment with recycled and found objects to create work that reflects on sustainability, waste, and the relationship between art and the environment. Through hands-on experimentation and critical discussion, students will develop a personal artistic response to global environmental challenges, culminating in a final project that addresses sustainable art practices.

Section Expectation

Students are expected to actively engage in weekly discussions and assignments. Per University policy regarding work required for a one-credit-hour course, a minimum of three hours a week of work is expected outside of class.

Evaluation

Student grades will be based on the quality and innovation of produced works, participation in in-class discussions, and overall engagement throughout the course.
