Section Description

Regenerative Grazing is a "grazing management-centered course". It covers the scientific principles and practical applications of regenerative grazing, including: soil health, production, management, and utilization of perennial and annual forage crops by ruminant and equine livestock, forage ID, livestock management in regenerative systems, agroforestry (and silvopasture), and an Intro to economic viability (this item is optional).
We will frequently visit real local grazing farms/

Section Expectation

Students will develop an understanding of the foundations of regenerative agriculture and regenerative grazing, the links between soil, plant, animal, atmosphere, and other ecological, economic, and social drivers of farm success in Vermont and beyond.

Students will engage critically with class material and make connections with how these drivers shape farm and food systems.

Students will apply the knowledge learned and develop a project plan that can be used for a real purpose.

Alternatively, students will apply their knowledge to work on special class projects

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated according to attendance and participation, exam(s), quiz(es), signature project, final project report, and prestentation.
