Foundations of probability, conditioning, and independence. Business, computing, biological, engineering reliability, and quality control applications. Classical discrete and continuous models. Pseudo-random number generation. Prerequisites: MATH 1224 or MATH 1248 or MATH 1242.

Section Description

This is a 3 credit hour lecture course covering foundations of probability, conditioning, and independence. Classical discrete and continuous models.

Section Expectation

Prerequisites: MATH 1224 or MATH 1234 or MATH 1242. Required Textbook: “Introduction to Probability” by Ward and Gundlach, Freeman (1st Ed.). iClicker participation at each class Assignments are in BrightSpace. There is an assignment for each chapter. Homeworks are due on a weekly basis. Examinations: There are 4 exams for the 4 units of material. They are not cumulative exams.

Evaluation

Grades will be based on: Assignments (20%), Participation (10%) and Exams (17.5% each)
