About MATH 1234 B

Introduction to calculus of functions of one variable including: limits, continuity, techniques and applications of differentiation and integration. Credit not given for more than one course in the pair MATH 1212, MATH 1234 unless followed by MATH 1248 or MATH 1242. No credit following receipt of credit for MATH 1248 or above. Prerequisite: C- or better in MATH 1034 or a score of 76 or higher on the placement assessment.

Section Description

MATH 1234 covers derivatives and integrals of algebraic, trigonometric, and exponential functions. Applications are used extensively throughout the course. Upon successful completion of this course, students will head to Calculus II, (MATH 1248).

Section Expectation

I expect you to attend and actively participate in class. I expect you to ask questions about the homework and about my presentation of material. I expect you to answer questions posed in class. I expect you to do all homework and submit all assigned work. I expect you to seek help when you need it, either during my office hours or by scheduling a one-on-one session with me.

Quiz average, (two grades dropped): 45% Lab Grade: 5% Test average: 30% Final examination: 20%
