Explores the relationships between language and literacy and cultural-linguistic influences on langauge/literacy development. Topics include phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, fluency, comprehension, spelling and writing. Pre/co-requisites: EDLT 5220; nine graduate credits in related areas; Instructor permission.
