Leila Amiri, PhD

Leila Amiri, PhD, is Dean for Admissions at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, where she leads holistic admissions and faculty development and teaches in a Professionalism, Communication, and Reflection course. With nearly two decades of experience across U.S. medical schools, she brings a distinctive non-clinician perspective to physician leadership and professional identity formation in academic medicine. Her scholarly work centers on emotional intelligence and restorative justice in academic medicine, and she has presented at national venues including AAMC, AMEE, IAMSE, ASPBP, and NAAHP. Dr. Amiri has designed EI-grounded curricula for medical educators, trained faculty interviewers to recognize and assess emotional intelligence in applicants and facilitated experiential learning experiences for clinicians and physician-leaders drawing on the Goleman and Mayer-Salovey-Caruso frameworks.
