Dr. Kerry Muhovich (she/her) is a 2001 Colorado State University college of veterinary medicine graduate. Dr. Muhovich is also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner since 2015. She earned her certificate in canine arthritis management in 2025. Kerry is also a tireless advocate for public health, having earned a masters degree in public health before vet school.
Kerry began her career working in behavior at Humane Colorado (then known as Denver Dumb Friends League) for the first two years out of school. She continued teaching for 8 more years in the community college setting, teaching vet tech students. Kerry has worked in end-of-life care for companion animals for nearly 10 years. Providing peaceful passings to beloved pets has been a privilege for Dr. Muhovich and seeing pets that could have improved quality of life through behavior interventions is also a major point of interest for her.
In 2022 after a hiatus from end-of-life care to work in animal behavior, Dr. Muhovich completed the EOL CAD program. She considers the program to be one of the very best courses she has taken as a veterinarian. She continues to explore end-of-life topics as she co-leads the EOLD alumni book club.
In 2024 Kerry earned a certificate in Veterinary Human Support from the University of Tennessee school of social work. The program provides veterinary professionals with a deep dive into topics veterinary social workers are experts and helpful to veterinary professionals. As a part of the program she created a video series on self-compassion and she continues to produce a series of weekly self-compassion emails for individuals in the veterinary field.
Dr. Muhovich has lectured at the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care conference in four separate years. She has also lectured for International Association for Veterinary Social Work and Association of Professional Humane Educations. Her interests in teaching include clinical skills, behavioral euthanasia, animal behavior and pet owners and staff from neurodiverse populations.
Dr. Muhovich spends her time outside of work with her family including her young adult children, the three family cats (Snowball, Mittens, and Marina), her dachshund Dexter, and her husband who works full-time in higher education. She has been a Denver resident since vet school and a Colorado resident since childhood. Her interests include gardening, knitting, LGBTQ advocacy and self-compassion.
