Karen George

Karen George, M.D., M.P.H.

Karen is the Associate Dean for Students and a Professor in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Larner College of Medicine. She a specialist in general obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Vermont Medical Center.  Dr. George is a Distinguished Educator at the Teaching Academy and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Her scholarly work is focused on the transition to residency, high value care, and health equity. She is passionate about reducing disparities in women’s health through policy, medical education, and delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Before arriving at Larner College of Medicine, Dr. George has served many roles in medical education over the last 3 decades including as clerkship director and residency program director and has received many awards for teaching and mentorship. She also served as a senior fellow in women’s health policy at the Institute for Medicaid Innovation. Dr. George served her specialty as the Chair of Council of Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology, an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the board of Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics.
