Julie Raymond-Yakoubian, PhD, is a graduate of the University of Vermont’s Professional and Continuing Education training in the End-of-Life Doula professional certificate and the Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula professional certificate. Julie has also trained with other experienced end-of-life doula and home funeral guide mentors and has been an active doula and guide since 2021.
Julie has a PhD in Anthropology and has worked as an anthropologist for 25 years, primarily in the Arctic. She has collaborated with Tribal communities in Alaska on a variety of topics such as health and well-being, research methods and ethics, food security and sovereignty and has supported advocacy efforts around these, and other issues, for many years. Julie works with a strong and growing community of end-of-life professionals in Alaska and around the country to support and advocate for those planning for or experiencing end-of-life. She has a strong interest in working as an ally in the LGBTQIA2S+ community and in supporting animal companions and their humans at end-of-life.
Julie can often be found in the beautiful rainforest outside her home, playing tennis, or curled up reading with her beloved animal companions.
