John has worked in the outdoor recreation industry since his first job as a ski instructor in 1985. At Sugarbush Resort, John helped grow the seasonal ski programs to their largest participation levels, started the summer camp and mountain bike coaching programs and produced some of the area’s most iconic images and videos. With the Mad River Riders, John helped secure the first legal mountain bike trails on state land in Vermont, was integral to the success of the Vermont Mountain Bike Association and led the development of a 60 mile trail network on private, town, state and federal lands. Currently, John is the Executive Director at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center in Williston and ushering the organization into long term sustainability by recruiting and inspiring a dedicated team of employees and volunteers to complete planning, permitting, fundraising and construction of a full trail network upgrade and a new building to house operations. John is dedicated to opening the door to the outdoors for all ages and abilities, with focus on universal access and fun-based learning.
