Engagement with Brazilian culture through embodied dance practices, informed by studies of music, race, religion, and socioeconomic diversity in Brazil. Focus on Brazil's most popular cultural manifestations. Reading, writing, in-class studies, performance attendance, and group presentation are required. Section Expectation

By enrolling in this course, students will learn about Brazil's rich culture with the guidance of a native professor. The primary focus will be on embodied dance practices that introduce students to various rhythms, musical styles, and popular cultural manifestations. Alongside these physical activities, students will engage in academic readings, attend lectures on race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic diversity, participate in class discussions, group presentations, performance attendance, and creative research assignments. Overall, the course examines dance styles through hands-on practice while also highlighting the Brazilian cultural contexts that inform each style.

This course is COIL-enhanced. COIL stands for Collaborative Online International Learning, SUNY's pioneering initiative to make global experiences accessible to more students. Your instructor is experienced in virtual exchange and is excited to guide you along your journey to intercultural development and deeper knowledge in the discipline (insert department/Major field here).
