About DNCE 1150 A
Provides an experiential and intellectual exploration of Joseph Pilates's conditioning techniques and Hatha Yoga philosophy and practice, designed to develop lifelong physical fitness and mindful awareness. Students will learn safe and effective movement patterns using a progressive approach that emphasizes alignment, stability, concentration, and flow. Through a combination of Pilates matwork, Yoga asanas, breathwork, and meditation, participants will strengthen the body, calm the mind, and cultivate a deeper sense of balance and control.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course blends the physical practice of Pilates matwork and Hatha Yoga with academic study in anatomy, biomechanics, and Yoga philosophy. Students develop technical skill, physical awareness, and a personal practice while building an academic understanding of movement principles, alignment, and somatic integration.
Weekly readings, reflective writing, personal practice logs, and analytical assignments support a deeper understanding of these practices beyond the studio. Students finish the course with embodied skills and theoretical knowledge that support lifelong mind-body wellness.
