Section Description

Heritage Studies: Local Vermont
Fresh approaches for heritage studies will be explored in this undergraduate course. We will research tangible and intangible character defining features, liminal domains and potentials through archival evidence, site studies, and critical heritage perspectives that focus on local Vermont communities.

Section Expectation

This course includes lectures and discussions. Students should plan on about 4-6 hours a week for course assignments through the semester. All students are expected to attend all classes unless for illness or for reasons beyond a student's control or if excused in advance.
Phones should be turned off during all classes. Computers and digital devices should only be used for class-related business during lectures and labs. No audio or visual recording, texting, e-mailing, web-browsing, or other distractive activities should be done during class lectures.
Assignments should be submitted at the beginning of class as specified.
The final assignment and all grade-able submissions are due on the last day of class. There is no final exam. It is expected that all assignments will be submitted on time. Late work may be penalized unless arrangements are made in advance. Extensions for assignments may only granted for illness or for serious reasons beyond the control of a student. There will be no incomplete course grades for this course except with the college deans’ approval for reasons beyond a student's control. Evaluation

Grades on assignments will reflect the quality of the work and its professional appearance and organization.
Grades in the "A" range will reflect work that has achieved a high level of scholarly expectations
Grades in the "B" range will reflect work that would require additional work to meet high scholarly expectations
Grades in the "C" range will reflect work that has mediocre content and/or writing
Grades in the "D" range will reflect work that has weak content and/or writing
Grades in the "F" range will reflect work that does not meet scholarly expectations or that was not submitted
