Section Description

This course is designed to introduce you to the science of psychology. We will explore major concepts, theories, research, and applications of psychology to help us understand human behavior. The course will cover concepts in psychological research, brain & behavior, sensation & perception, learning, memory, cognition, language, intelligence, development, personality, social psychology, and psychological disorders and their treatment. At the end of the course, you should be able to: 1) Understand the basic principles of research in psychological science and grasp foundational data literacy skills for the field of psychology; 2) Define and explain fundamental psychological terms and concepts and apply concepts to real-world examples; 3) Apply what you know from psychology to yourself or others.

Attendance & participation is required; in-class activities will contribute to your final grade.

Evaluation

Evaluation will consist of in-class activities, quizzes & online activities, reading assignments, and three exams.
