About ECON 2450 A

Analysis of consumer demand, supply, market price under competitive conditions and monopolistic influences, and the theory of income distribution. Prerequisites: ECON 1400, ECON 1450, MATH 1212 or MATH 1234; or Health & Society major or minor, Instructor permission.

Section Description

Building on the principles of microeconomics, this course delves into the decision-making behavior of individuals and firms. We’ll explore in-depth consumer and producer theory and examine different market structures. Additional topics may include game theory and welfare economics, with an emphasis on practical applications through basic modeling and graphical analysis. These foundational tools are not only vital for advanced economic studies but also provide valuable insights for everyday life analysis. By the end of this course, students will be well-equipped for further economic courses and possess enhanced skills for analyzing real-world economic scenarios.

Section Expectation

You are expected to attend class regularly, take notes, and maintain respectful behavior in class. Outside of class you should expect to spend at least 2-3 hours per week working independently on class material.

Evaluation

Final grades will be based on six problem sets, weekly in-class quizzes, two midterms and a final exam.
