About EDTE 2889 A

Builds on theories of experiential education and social-ecological systems resilience to provides students with knowledge and skills related to outdoor education. Students will learn resilience-based approaches to leading groups in outdoor settings. Includes core DEI content (both principles and practices) related to critical, indigenous, and decolonizing perspectives on outdoor education.

Notes

Class takes place on the following dates: Sept 11-8am-5pm- Ropes Course; Sept 18- 8am-5pm- Mt Philo; Oct 2-4- expedition in ADKs; Oct 16- 9-12 closing day; Online asynchronous modules between classes; Course fee: $250 food and gear. Open to Degree and PACE students.

Section Description

This is a 6 full day intensive course that will take you into nature and understand how it can used to build resilience. It utilizes social work, experiential education, and place-based practices to assist your learning.

Section Expectation

Attend the 6 days in the field. Ropes Course (1), Hike (1), and Wilderness backpacking (3), and final wrap up (1). You will need to prepare two presentations and a journal.
