Section Description
English 1500 is a gateway course to the English major, designed to prepare majors for upper-level English courses. To that end, the course will focus on close reading and writing literary analyses. You will be introduced to key critical and literary terms, and together we will think through the ways that literary texts convey meaning. The course will also focus on thesis development, textual quotation and analysis, and argument structure. The course will be divided into three units: fiction, drama, and poetry.
