Section Description

CHEM 1450 is a typical second-semester general chemistry course, a 4-credit course involving both a lecture and a laboratory component. CHEM 1450 touches on all of the topics normally covered in a second semester General Chemistry course, including Solution chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium, Acid-Base Chemistry, and Nuclear Chemistry. Students should have a general understanding of these topics and their interrelatedness by the end of the course.

Section Expectation

This course combines a lecture format worth 75% and a lab component worth 25% of the total. In addition to attending lecture, students should expect to spend 3-4 hours per week in consistent study and problem-solving. Solving recommended practice problems is the best way to do this.

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated with three mid-term exams, a final exam, an online quiz average, and an attendance factor as well as a lab component of the course.
