Section Description

Discussions of personal health guided by the social ecological model, which details the multiple levels of influence on a person’s individual health including: family, school, neighborhood, community, state policy, federal legislation and international development.

Section Expectation

Complete weekly online modules. Online modules include video lectures and readings. Students also will need to engage in discussions, reflections, and personal health portfolio exercises as part of their completion of these weekly modules.

This course does require the purchase of an ebook to complete the course which comes at a cost of around $100.

Evaluation

Discussion posts, reflections, assignments, quizzes, and personal health portfolios make up the graded assignments. Each of these types of assignments may be featured in a weekly module.

The final assignment will be a scholarly reflection sharing insights on personal health portfolios throughout the semester, growth in personal knowledge around personal health, and applications of the social-ecological model to both personal and public health
