Section Description

Creating vibrant presentations and 3D model drawings with SketchUp involves a versatile, user-friendly approach that empowers designers, architects, engineers, and artists to bring their ideas to life. Mastering the basic methods and procedures of design, as well as isometric and perspective computer-aided drawings, can unlock a world of creative possibilities.

Section Expectation

1. Provide students with the knowledge and skills to generate 3D images and products using a computer-based workstation with 3D modeling software.
2. Students will learn SketchUp’s toolkit, including views, tags/layers, groups, and components, for workflow efficiencies.
3. Use contemporary design principles for different trades and real-world problems.

Evaluation

Bugs-Bat boxes hotels (15%, in pairs)
Topo blankets for Landscape Characterization (15%)
Middle assignment: Champlain’s Pier (20%, in pairs)
Interior Design (15%)
Final Assignment: Centennial Woods pavilion or Bus Station (25%)
Participation, homework & class exercises (10%)
