About PHRM 6730 A
Intensive directed reading in one area of Pharmacology. Pharmacology students must choose a topic outside thesis research area. Term paper and seminar on selected topic required. Prerequisite: Instructor permission.

Section Description
Research experience for graduate students looking for technical experience or working on research for a thesis. Students should contact the researcher directly to discuss opportunities in their lab. Permission is required for enrollment.
Section Expectation
At least two weeks prior to the next class the leader will email an article for approval to the Course Director. Choose an article you believe others in the class will be interested in and has a clear pharmacology focus. Read the article carefully and be ready to lead a discussion of all aspects fo the article, from providing background (introduction) to methods to discussing each figure in detail. DL should also be able to summarize the author's main discussion points and provide leadership in critically discussion the article with the class. All presentations should prepare slides.
Evaluation
DLs are graded on level of preparedness for leading the discussion. This includes knowledge of background and methods, as well as level of preparation for discussing the data. The class will be graded on active participation. Students will be asked to record their self-evaluation and will meet with the course director to discuss her/his assessment.
