Section Description
This course provides a scoping overview on various concepts of public health tailored to health professionals and practitioners. Societal issues, influences, and concepts are explored that impact the health of populations. In addition, emphasis is placed on understanding the 10 Essential Services of Public Health; the ecological model of public health; epidemiology and methods of population health analysis; structure and function of federal, state and local health organizations; funding for public health; global health and environmental health. Discussion will incorporate health disparities, evidence-based intervention strategies, and cultural issues in public health.
Evaluation
Grades are based on discussions (using YellowDig), quizzes, and assignments.
