About MATH 1248 OL1

Vectors and vector operations. Techniques and applications of integration. Polar coordinates, Taylor polynomials, sequences and series, power series. Credit will not be given for both MATH 1248 and MATH 1242. No credit following receipt of credit for MATH 2248 or above. Prerequisite: C- or better in MATH 1234.

Section Description

Math 1248 is the second semester of a three semester sequence in calculus with each course being four credits.

The course will cover the following topics: Techniques of Integration, applications of integration, very basics of first order linear differential equations, Parametric Surfaces and Polar Coordinates, Infinite sequences and series. In addition, we will cover the chapter on Vectors and the geometry of space with an emphasis on dot products and cross products.

Section Expectation

You are to have a solid knowledge of precalculus and of basic trignometry as well solid skills from first semester calculus. You will need to purchase webassign as well as the browser lockdown feature of Webassign, There will be homework on Webassign. Webassign is a computer system for homeworks and tests. Expect to spend several hours every day on the course.

Evaluation

You will have homework assigned several times a week.
There will be a weekly test and daily homework..
All the graded work will be done on Webassign.
Tests will be done on webassign using the lockdown browser.
