Discusses concepts and principles: advanced vocabulary, grammar patterns, use of space/modulation of signs for time/location. Further explores Deaf Culture.
Section Description
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of American Sign Language, focuses on building receptive and expressive skills through a visual-gestural modality, and provides an overview of Deaf culture. Pre-requistie: Complete ASL 1100.
Section Expectation
We meet in person on MWF from 9:00 to 12:45. Each session has a similar structure as follows: 9a to 10:00: Vocabulary/Grammar Lesson and Review 10:15 to 11:30: Language Exercises (the opportunity to apply what you have learned) 11:45 to 12:45: Interactive Activities/ASL Social. We will cover Units 4-6 from the True+Way ASL curriculum and the cost for the digital textbook is $60.00.
Evaluation
Your language work is assessed by quizzes (15%), tests (30%), worksheets (10%), Deaf Tales and Traditions (10%), language exercises (30%), and Deaf Culture (5%).
