Section Description
Materials and Techniques This introductory, 2D material-based course engages students in explorations of material and techniques from today’s artists. Throughout the semester, students will communicate to one another how Burlington's everyday environments are sites of artistic inquiry and social contract. In the second half, students will experiment with 2D wet, dry, and digital media (e.g. vinyl transfer, jacquard fabric cyanotypes, observational watercolor).
Section Expectation
In addition to studio work, students are expected to learn about related disciplinary content via reading and lectures; then relate to their studio work and be able to discuss in class. Per University policy regarding work required for a one-credit hour course, a minimum of three hours a week of work is expected outside of class.
Evaluation
Work is evaluated based on experimentation, analysis, diligence, and clarity.
