Section Description

The European Pony Tour takes students to the land where horses were first domesticated, bred, trained, and used for work, travel, and war. Students will see the continued use of horses in these capacities, as well as their more common use now in recreation and sport. We will visit farms, event venues, equine practices and/or veterinary schools. Students will see and learn about European horse and pony breeds, as well as common training techniques, riding disciplines, and care and management practices. We will meet equine professionals including breeders, trainers, instructors, and veterinarians. Students will come back to the United States with a new appreciation for the breadth of the equine world and the opportunities that abound for students interested in pursuing a career with horses.
