Section Description

This 100% online class will examine the role and practice of strategic communication in organizations, and their impact on consumers and society. Students will learn to craft purposeful messages for diverse audiences and platforms, developing skills in research and analysis, brand voice and message development, crisis communication, and ethical communications practices. The course will culminate with hands-on experience creating a comprehensive strategic communication campaign.

Section Expectation

This course is 100% remote and asynchronous (no set meeting times). However, there is work due each week, which includes lecture presentations, readings, and 1-2 weekly assignments. Students can expect to spend 1-2 hours a week on coursework outside of class, which includes an end-of-semester strategic communication campaign.

Evaluation

Grades will be based on attendance and participation (i.e., regularly logging into the class and discussion board), completion of weekly assignments and the final strategic communication campaign, as well as overall professionalism (as would be expected in a workplace).
