The focus of this course will be on developing skills that are key in the creation of original dance compositions. Students will explore space, time, force, idea, music, and performance environment as they strive toward original movement invention and the completion of choreographic projects. Feedback from the instructor and fellow students will be critical in the examination of how to move forward in the creation and development of various choreographic studies and projects; students must be ready to move beyond previously conceived notions of how dances are made! Choreographic analysis will be practiced through attending live dance performances, as well as constant close observation and discussion. STUDENTS MUST BE A DANCE MAJOR OR MINOR AND HAVE TAKEN DNCE 1200, or HAVE INSTRUCTOR PERMISSION TO TAKE THIS CLASS.
Section Expectation
