Section Description
The course is an introduction to research skills most suited to students in the sciences. The first part of the course will explore topics including the scientific method, developing a research question, finding, reading and writing scientific literature, referencing and plagiarism. The second part of the course will include topics on data collection, storage, basic analysis and dissemination. This introductory course will provide students with a basic understanding of how to conduct a research project.
Section Expectation
Students are expected to attend all lectures. Students should expect to spend 2-3hours a week on coursework outside of class, with additional time for the project work.
Evaluation
Evaluations will include 2-3 short assignments, and exam and an final project, which involves designing a scientific poster.
