Students will develop and articulate a professional philosophy and improve skills in career development including writing, resume preparation, effective interviewing and negotiation. Prerequisite: Ecological Agriculture, Sustainable Landscape Horticulture, or Agroecology & Landscape Design Major; minimum Sophomore standing; or Instructor permission.

Section Description

This class is designed to help seniors and juniors to think about life after graduation. It provides resources for success: How to create a personal brand. How to tailor resumes, cover letters, elevator pitches etc. It also looks at how employers might evaluate application packages. The class provides a safe space for students to talk about applying for jobs, previous job experiences, conflict resolution etc.

Section Expectation

Students are required to be present in class so they can contribute to discussions. They need to upload their work and reflections to Brightspace where the instructor gives feed back.

Evaluation

Evaluation is on class participation and on assignments such as the preparation of a resume, an elevator pitch, reflections on presentations by guest presenters.
