Section Description
This course explores the science and application of nutrition as it relates to athletic performance, training, and recovery. Building upon fundamental nutrition concepts, students will examine the physiological demands of various types of exercise and how dietary choices influence energy metabolism, body composition, hydration, and performance outcomes. Topics include energy systems, macronutrient and micronutrient needs of athletes, fluid balance and electrolytes, ergogenic aids and supplements, dietary assessment, disordered eating in sport, and emerging trends in sports nutrition. Emphasis is placed on translating evidence-based research into practical recommendations for diverse athletic populations.
