Section Description
Taiji Quan is an internal martial art and mind-body practice in which the body is the palette and the mind is the brush! Through slow, relaxed, and quiet movements practitioners cultivate a deeper sense of relaxed concentration, learning to listen to subtle changes, developing greater balance, coordination, flexibility and ease. Participants will learn the fundamental principles of Taiji Quan and practice a series of continuous movements to experience flow and connection. Classes will include discussions of Taiji philosophy, meridian theory and Qi, and fundamental principles of practice. Partner exercises during class will be a chance to apply these principles and students will be guided as to how to apply Taiji philosophy of cultivating harmony and balance to everyday activities and relationships. Qigong exercises, sitting meditation, and discussion on Chinese Medicine for health and wellbeing will also be shared to complement Taiji practice. When the weather is accommodating, many of the classes will take place out of doors in nearby woods where participants can experience a deeper awareness of our innate interconnectivity with earth, sky, and one another.
