Mediums explored in the class may include: drawing, digital media, sculpture, performance art and social practice. Readings, writing and discussions will be part of the fabric of this course. Students will be expected to engage in thoughtful critical discussion during project critiques.

Section Expectation

Students are expected to engage in a thoughtful and critical way with the material in this course, and have a strong work ethic. Lab fees for this course will cover most of the materials required. As a foundations level course, students will learn the fundamentals that are essential for success in subsequent studio classes. While most of our classes will meet in our assigned classroom, we might have field trips for research both on and off campus. Students should expect to spend at least 6-8 hours of work on this course a week outside of class.
