Section Description
The Teaching Assistant in EMS Education course provides qualified students the opportunity to develop their instructional, leadership, and mentoring skills within the Initiative for Rural EMS (IREMS) program. Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a key role in supporting the delivery of EMT, AEMT, Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and Wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses by assisting lead instructors in classroom, lab, and simulation-based learning environments. Students in this role deepen their understanding of emergency medicine through teaching, guiding skill practice, and modeling professional behaviors for peers. TAs learn to facilitate student learning, manage small-group instruction, evaluate basic psychomotor performance, and provide formative feedback all while gaining insight into course organization, lesson planning, and competency-based education in EMS.
