About EDSC 3270 A

Students explore best practices of teaching, learning, and assessing science in the middle and high school classroom. Leverages a professional learning community model to engage critical dialogue, reflection, and feedback about teaching scientific inquiry & the 3-dimensional learning practices of the NGSS. Various pedagogical approaches like place-based and project-based learning are also examined. Credit not awarded for both EDSC 3270 and EDSC 5227. Prerequisite: EDSC 1110, EDSC 2070, EDSC 2090, EDSC 2150, EDSC 2160.

Section Description

This course is designed for students who are entering the field of science teaching and/or are interested in exploring research-based methods for teaching science. Students from outside secondary education are welcomed! We will primarily explore phenomenon and inquiry-based approaches to teaching science.

Evaluation

This is a proficiency-based course which requires that you demonstrate mastery of course learning objectives. Assessments may be revised and resubmitted to improve course standing.
