Section Description

This course will examine the relationship between “global media” and “international development,” with a focus on two overlapping areas: (1) global media institutions as part of international development and (2) the use of media to represent and advocate for international development. While surveying historical examples, this class will ultimately ask students to think critically about contemporary media creation and consumption.
