Section Expectation
Grounded in the belief that grassroots movements and organizations can meaningfully contribute to social change, this class draws upon the rhetorical tradition and other fields to provide an understanding of grassroots civic engagement. Centered around a group project in which students develop a strategic communications plan for an advocacy or organizing campaign, this class provides an overview of some of the knowledge and skills that can be applied to grassroots political action. The class is both conceptual and applied, attempting to bridge communication theory and the work of real-world social movements.
