About BCOR 2505 ZRA

Explores the fundamental processes of life. Topics include cellular metabolism; structure and function of organelles; cell cycle; signal transduction; biology of cancer. CHEM 2580, BCOR 2300 recommended. Credit not awarded for both BCOR 2505 and BCOR 2500. Prerequisites: BCOR 1400, BIOL 1400, or BIOL 1000; BCOR 1450, BIOL 1450, BIOL 1005, or BCOR 1425; CHEM 1400, CHEM 1405, or CHEM 1410; CHEM 1450, CHEM 1455, or CHEM 1460.

Notes

Prereqs enforced by the system: BIOL 1000/1005 or 1400/1450 or BCOR 1400/1450 or BCOR 1425, and CHEM 1400 or 1405 or 1410, and CHEM 1450 or 1455 or 1460. Post Bac Pre Med students only even after level restrictions removed; PACE students with permission and override. Degree students see BCOR 2505 A. Section Description

Molecular and Cell Biology is a multidisciplinary endeavor that draws strength from biochemistry, genetics, physics, microbiology and other specialties. It is a science that asks questions about the most basic properties of life using the most sophisticated technology available. At its core, Molecular and Cell Biology is engaged in uncovering the fundamental processes of life. The implications of molecular and cell biology research are far ranging, from human health to bioremediation.

Section Expectation

This course consists of lectures in a large-capacity lecture hall. Students should expect to spend 2-4 hours per week on coursework outside of class, with additional time for exam preparation.

Evaluation

Evaluation will include four unit exams, two paper discussions, unit quizzes.
