About MATH 6441 A
Complex functions, differentiation and the Cauchy-Riemann equations, power and Laurent series, integration, calculus of residues, contour integration, isolated singularities, conformal mapping, harmonic functions. Prerequisite: Two semesters of real analysis required.
Notes
Prereqs: Two semesters of Real Analysis; Open to Degree and PACE students
Section Description
Topics: Functions on the complex plane of 1 variable. Holomorphic functions, harmonic functions, and the Cauchy-Riemann equations. Calculus of residues and application to real functions. Conformal mappings and the Riemann mapping theorem. If time, the Prime Number Theorem. Textbook: No textbook is required. However, it is encouraged that students read along with one or several related textbooks. The course content is closest to that of "Complex made Simple" by David Ullrich.
Section Expectation
Students are expected to submit weekly homework assignments.
Evaluation
Grades are based on weekly assignments and a final exam.
