About ASCI 3300 A
Augments learning acquired during previous CREAM experience; students provide technical, logistical, organizational support to the current group of CREAM students. Prerequisite: ASCI 2300 or ASCI 2310.

Section Description
Course Description The purpose of this course is to augment learning acquired during previous CREAM experience and for the student to provide technical, logistical, organizational support to the current group of CREAM students.
Section Expectation
Upon completion of this course, students will have mastered the basic components of managing a small dairy farm. They will have a working knowledge in the following areas: • milking process and milk quality • reproduction management • neonatal management • transition cow management • nutrition and feeding • lameness management • sanitation and biosecurity • bedding management • animal handling and stockmanship • udder health • vaccination programs and labor management Students will have a firm grasp of the fundamental issues in the regional dairy industry and how these impact the economics of farm management. In addition, students will have gained considerable experience in interpersonal relationships and team dynamics as they interact and manage programs with the CREAM students.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated frequently during the semester using the following tools: 1. Complete 5 hours of online Leadership Training 2. Quarterly written peer evaluations by the herd manager and faculty advisor 3. Weekly work logs documenting participation in class, meetings, calvings, and cleaning activities. Grading Criteria/Policies: The grading will be based upon the following criteria: Attendance 15% Active participation 30% Reflection journal and work log 20% Leadership Training completion 15% Peer evaluations 20%
