Selections from principal Roman authors. May be repeated for credit with different content. Topics vary by offering; periodic offering at intervals that may exceed four years. Prerequisite: LAT 2100, LAT 2200, or equivalent.

Section Description

The 'survey' of Latin literature includes reading ancient works, review of the basics of Latin syntax and vocabulary, and introduction to secondary literature. Readings will include Vergil, Cicero, and some later Latin: a variety of authors.

Section Expectation

Students need to have taken the equivalent of the first four semesters of Latin. Students need to do daily assignments of readings, worksheets, and learning vocabulary.

Evaluation

There will be daily homework/quizzes, a creative/scholarly project, and midterm and final exams.
