Section Description
The purpose of the course is to explore and comprehend the four biochemical core concepts defined by the ASBMB: • (i) Energy is required by and transformed in biological systems. • (ii) Macromolecular structure determines function and regulation. • (iii) Information storage and flow are dynamic and interactive. • (iv) Discovery requires objective measurement, quantitative analysis, and clear communication.
Section Expectation
Prerequisites: one semester of organic chemistry (CHEM 1150/1152, CHEM 1500/1550, 1150, CHEM 1580/1582, CHEM 2580, or equivalent) & one semester of biology (BIOL 1450, BCOR 1450, BCOR 2500, or equivalent).
