About CDAE 2190 OL1
Focuses on providing students basic knowledge and skills of event planning with real-life experiences. Topics covered include sponsorship, fundraising, marketing, promotions, branding, ticket operations, social media, event operations, and risk management in support of event production. Prerequisites: ENGL 1001, CDAE 1240, or Instructor permission.

Section Description
This event planning course focuses on providing students the basic knowledge and skills of event planning for athletics through the lens of collegiate level sport. Sponsorship, fundraising, marketing, promotions, licensing/branding, ticket operations, social media, event operations, and risk management that support event production are some areas this course will cover. Through presentations, guest speaker videos, readings, class discussions and writing assignments, students will gain a thorough understanding of the event planning process. Throughout your experience this semester, always ask yourself – How does this relate to athletic event planning? What would I do as an event planner? Learning Objectives: • Students will acquire a basic knowledge of event planning, fundraising, sponsorship, marketing, promotions, licensing/branding, staffing, ticket operations and event management. • Students will apply and share their skills and experiences throughout the event planning process. • To gain communication skills and networking abilities. • To experience professional growth through the process. Modality Description: Online module release day is Sunday. This means that each module will be available by Sunday for that week until Thursday at midnight when your assignment is due. This is a highly self-directed course. Accountability and participation are key throughout this learning experience. Proper access to the Internet and organization will help make the experience that much better. We do not meet in person or on Teams at a specific time.

Evaluation
50% Class Attendance, Participation, and Engagement – Based on class attendance; logging on to the class weekly, class discussions, and responses to classmates’ and the instructor’s postings. This includes responding to the questions directed towards you in the discussion forums AND your response to your fellow classmates’ questions and posts. 35% Written Assignments – The discussion posts and writing assignments as outlined will be an important part of your overall grade. There will be a 5-point deduction for each day the assignment is past due. 15% Final Assignment – Paper or Exam to be decided upon & class evaluation.
